Wild Atlantic Mews - Donegal Ireland

This holiday home for two people is on a beautiful peninsula called Inishowen in Co. Donegal at the very top of Ireland. We are sure you will find that this wild and beautiful peninsula is the perfect place to chill out from the fast pace of a hectic modern lifestyle. We are in the Republic of Ireland (aka Éire / Southern Ireland) although we are further north than Northern Ireland!!! Donegal was named the "coolest place on the planet" in 2017 by National Geographic Traveler magazine. The location photos on here are arranged in order of distance from our home. 'Star Wars - The Last Dedi' was filmed locally at Malin Head in Summer 2016. The R242 road to Malin Head was officially renamed as the R2D2 road in honor of the film!

The house is less than 1km from the Atlantic Ocean and 5 km from two beautiful sandy beaches. We are 20 minutes from Malin Head. On the Inishowen Peninsula you can enjoy the starting point for the Wild Atlantic Way (WAW), the longest coastal scenic drive in the world - while on the peninsula itself you can hike or hill climb, swim in the sea, go sailing, deep sea fishing and freshwater fishing, go horse riding, surfing, hill and rock climbing, cycling, painting and golfing. This is a golfer's paradise, we have several 18-hole golf courses nearby, including Ballyliffin (6km), which hosted the Irish Open in 2018.

We are just 1km from a village called Malin, where there is a pub, a fast-food restaurant/cafe, a supermarket, a post office, a hairdresser, a beautician and a butcher. We are 4km from a small town called Carndonagh with all the facilities you will need including ATMs, banks, larger supermarkets, bars, two good restaurants and a range of takeout options such as Indian, Chinese, fish 'n' chips, etc.

The Nearest City

The historic walled city of Derry / Londonderry (pop. 130,000) is only 35 km from us, across the border in Northern Ireland. This ancient fortified city has a lot to offer, including department stores, hypermarkets, museums, historic city walls, pubs, discos, concert halls, theatres, cinemas, bowling and lots of restaurants. It was chosen as the first "UK City of Culture" in 2013. Derry was also ranked at number four in Lonely Planet's list of the top places to visit in the world in 2012. City of Derry Airport (LDE) has daily flights to several UK cities such as London, Liverpool and Glasgow. 

The Giant's Causeway and the major "Game of Thrones" sites are just an hour away from Malin via the Foyle Ferry. The nearest big city is Belfast (pop. 350,000), it is just 100 minutes from Malin by car. The nearest international airport is Belfast International (BFS) a 70-minute drive. Belfast and the Causeway Coast were named as the number one tourist destination in the world for 2018 by Lonely Planet. The Titanic Centre in Belfast would be worth a stopover if flying into Belfast, it was named best tourist attraction in the world at the World Travel Awards in 2016. 

Other airports include: Donegal Airport, voted the most scenic airport in the world for the past four years (90 mins); Belfast City (100 mins); Dublin (3.5 hours).

3. Our maximum occupancy is for two (2) persons. 

4. We have a policy of only accepting stays with a minimum of three (3) nights and a maximum of fourteen (14).

5. Bed sheets, pillows and fresh towels are all provided. We also provide some food for your breakfast.
